Please be sure to join us on Monday, May 27th at 8:45 am for Wenonah’s annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony Service hosted by American Legion Post 192. All are welcome for a procession along Mantua Avenue to the Wenonah Cemetery for a short graveside service in observance of Memorial Day. Walkers and bike riders encouraged. The parade will start at the corner of Mantua and Marion promptly at 8:45am, and will make a brief stop at Veteran’s Corner in Wenonah Park before processing to the Wenonah Cemetery. Join your friends, neighbors, Scouts, the Clearview High School Marching Band, Wenonah and Mantua military veterans, and our local fire companies to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. Following the service in Wenonah Cemetery, all are welcome to continue on in procession to the Mantua Cemetery for additional ceremonies there.
Please be aware of these other ways you can honor those who died in service of our country this Memorial Day:
- Place flags or flowers on graves of military veterans
- Fly the US flag at half-staff until noon
- Visit monuments dedicated to veterans
- Donate to charities to aid Gold Star families
- Participate in your community’s Memorial Day events
FIREWORKS REMINDER
We are looking forward to celebrating as a community for Memorial Day weekend – we love commemorating the start of summer and gathering for the parade. But we ask our residents to remember that setting off fireworks on public property is illegal. Many of us are aware of careless actions by unknown persons using fireworks at Langston Field that caused a fire to the snack bar. Let’s not let this happen again. Please act responsibly and say no to fireworks on Borough Property!
