I hope everyone is safe. Power has been restored to very limited sections of our Borough. We still have no further update on restoring power to the remaining outages.

The weather, blocked roads, and down wires have made assessing damage difficult. However, it does appear that our residents have suffered significant property damage. I am unaware of any injuries or deaths, for which I am thankful.

We are being assisted by neighboring fire departments and municipalities. The County is also providing assistance. The Mantua Township Police Department is on site and receiving assistance from outside law enforcement. For public safety reasons, we have restricted access onto Borough roads.

Please do not venture out at this time. Our sidewalks and streets are not safe. Assume all down wires are live. Be extremely careful removing downed trees and debris.

Gloucester County EMS is staging resources in the Borough. Also, the Country is opening shelters for those in need, with Gloucester County Institute of Technology identified as a site. You will receive a separate message from the Country regarding shelters.

Tomorrow, we will assess the damage at first light and begin the process of recovering.

I have been in communication with our partners in the county and state. I talked with our state representatives, our state senator, and the Governor. All are aware of our situation. We will dig out, clean up, and rebuild. We will get through this.

Be safe and take care.

Mayor John R. Dominy
