CELEBRATING JOHN AND KATHY HOWARD PARK AT WENONAH LAKE

Saturday, July 2nd

11am

Please join us for a ceremony followed by light refreshments to honor John and Kathy Howard and the installation of the sign recognizing the naming of the John and Kathy Howard Park at Wenonah Lake.

Wenonah resident Kathy Howard was an active member of the Wenonah Lake Association from 2003-2008, during which time she served on their Board for four years and served as President for three years. Kathy was selected as the Borough of Wenonah’s Volunteer of the Year in 2008. During her involvement with the WLA, she focused on membership and organized many fundraisers including the Haunted Trail in the fall, Cabin Fever in February, the Garden Fair in May, Cluck and Claw in July, and One Night of Song and Dance at the end of the summer. Funds raised provided a generous donation benefitting the Wenonah Lake children’s camp and supported landscaping to beautify lake grounds.

John F. Howard was a published cartoonist, illustrator, and caricaturist, and may be most fondly remembered by residents and their children as their English Teacher from Gateway, where he taught from 1974 – 2012. He was selected as Teacher of the Year in 2006, and during his time also served as wresting coach for 28 years. John was deeply active in the Borough, a long-time coach of boys and girls soccer for the WAA, and Councilman from 2007 until his death in 2016. John’s favorite day in Wenonah was the 4th of July – he loved marching in the parade and then visiting with all his past students at the fire house.

John and Kathy contributed so much to Wenonah, and their effort as volunteers has left a significant mark in our town’s history. It is the Borough’s honor to recognize them with the naming of the John and Kathy Howard Lake Park.

We hope you will join us in celebration.
